about gotbits

gotbits is a snippet-hosting service, focused on ease-of-use and availability. To serve both of those aims, new features are unlikely to be introduced, unless they can be easily accessed via curl or a javascript-less browser. Anything you upload will be available for approximately 14 days, unless it is brought to my attention by law enforcement or a DMCA takedown notice.

how to use

To upload a snippet from a web browser, simply replace the [Paste your text here] text on the home page, then click "Save". You will then be redirected to the saved snippet. To share your snippet, simply copy the address you were redirected to and distribute that.

By default, snippets are highlighted as if they are C++. If you're using something else, add the file extension to the URL, e.g. https://gotbits.net/wuwuqu.py. The full list of supported languages is available here.

curl can be used to upload snippets as well:

The response headers will include something like Location: wuwuqu. Navigating to https://gotbits.net/wuwuqu will display your snippet.

Snippets can be downloaded from command line tools, without needing to worry about HTML getting in the way. If you need to download the full page, and not just the snippet contents, include 'Mozilla' in the user agent string.
